Narrative Therapy
Narrative therapy views people as separate from their problems and destructive behaviors. Through this approach I help clients attain some distance from the difficulty they face. With this perspective, individuals feel more empowered to make changes in their thought patterns and behavior and “rewrite” their life story for a future that reflects their most authentic self, what they are capable of, and what their purpose is, separate from their obstacles.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Techniques have proven to help change negative thought patterns in providing alternative coping skills to manage distressing emotions about self and others. While you can’t control every situation in life, you can control how you react to them. CBT gives you a range of coping skills and helps you change your thinking to appropriately deal with stressful situations that contribute to your depression. CBT has also been highly effective with issues such as anxiety, phobias and low motivation.
EMDR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) is a highly recommended evidence-based approach to treat PTSD and trauma. EMDR focuses on placing attention to past distressing events and implementing reprocessing mechanisms to create new associations about disturbing memories/thoughts in order to help individuals heal and alleviate distressing emotions.
My Approach
I strive to create a safe place for my clients who come from all backgrounds of life facilitating compassion and openness. With a speciality in trauma care and utilizing a structured treatment space I help clients create concert and measurable goals that bring lasting changes in their life. Our path to healing is complex and with guided support and realistic expectations we can conquer life's greatest challenges. My hope is to empower individuals to take control of their lives and help support them in living a truly fulfilling life. I use a collaborative lens in therapy and work with my client's in developing positive changes that they believe hold a high precedent in their lives. I incorporate trauma informed care along with evidence based approaches in therapy in order to increase therapeutic results and manage
co-regulation. My hope is to help you recognize your strengths so that together we can bring your most authentic self to reality.
